I Got It From My Mama
My name is Katie and I am a Cottage Baker, licensed and insured in California. I have made baked goods for my friends, family, health care providers and anyone who would take them for most of my adult life. I dabbled in baking growing up, however, I didn’t really need to do it myself because my mom was always throwing down in the kitchen. Katie’s Cookies would not exist without my mama, Kelly.
My mom created this cookie recipe when I was very young, circa 2005. She made cookies for all of my classmates, teammates and friends growing up. Without fail it was always “the best cookie I have ever had” and there were never leftovers. In 8th grade, for a community service project, my mom finally gave me the recipe to make with my friend to take to a retirement home. I was so confident that we could make them exactly how she did and boy was I wrong! I think, though the intentions were good, we were doing the community a disservice that day (and the folks there would definitely agree). Since that day I dreamed I’d nail the recipe and eventually I did.
Now I get the same feedback that I heard so often growing up and I can’t wait for you to try! I am so grateful for my mom. She gave me the recipe and the baking genes that have made this dream possible. If you have ever had the pleasure of having one of Kel’s cookies consider yourself lucky. And if you haven’t, you’ll just have to try one of mine!
